In partnership with the World Bank, we created an offline-first system to train teachers in regions with little connectivity, guaranteeing continuous and structured learning. The solution has already been implemented in Mozambique, Sierra Leone and Nepal, connecting dozens of schools to a new teacher training model.
The challenge
How to scale up teacher training without relying on the internet?
- The traditional model required face-to-face training, which limited the program’s reach.
- Teachers with little experience did not receive structured support.
- The lack of connectivity in some regions made a common digital solution unfeasible.
- The Ministry of Education did not have access to quality data that showed the development of skills.
The road to a solution
We have created an accessible platform, adapted to the reality of the location and the teachers.
- Development of an offline-first system, ensuring that teachers could use the tool even without internet.
- Implementation of a structured assessment model, allowing experienced teachers to provide detailed feedback.
- Connecting teachers and school managers to generate a continuous process of learning and improvement.
- A space for sharing good practices, ensuring that learning is built collectively.
What have we learned together?
Technology for education needs to adapt to local conditions.
- Teacher training can be scalable without losing quality.
- A hybrid model of teaching and feedback significantly improves learning in the classroom.
- The processing and visualization of data is essential to validate the effectiveness of training programs, even in contexts that are arid for data capture.
